Informative Session on SDGs Delivered at IUS
On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the IUS SDG Committee organized a lecture on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Özge Büyükdağlı and Senior Assistant Azra Bičo, who introduced the attendees to the origin, mission, development and activities of the SDGs at IUS. IUS recognizes the importance of the United Nations Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and is aware that higher education institutions can play a very important role in their implementation in the world.
In order to implement the planned strategic goals, IUS established the SDG Executive Committee with its main task to carry out the above-mentioned goals at IUS.
The members of the IUS SDG Executive committee are Senior Assistant Azra Bičo, Chairperson; Mehtap Özer-Isović, ELS; Lamija Hadžimurtezić, QAO; Asst. Prof. Dr. Özge Büyükdağlı, FENS; Asst. Prof. Dr. Amal Mersni, FENS; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliye Fatma Mataraci, FLW; Prof. Dr. Tarek El-Akkad, FENS; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliaksandr Novikau, FBA; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orkun Aydin, FASS.
As of 2018, IUS Quality Assurance Office (QAO) coordinated, monitored and promoted the implementation of the SDG activities. Some of the activities done so far are Energy security and IUS Green campus - Greening Universities. IUS SDG has two student clubs: IUS Environmental Club – Go Green or Go Home and IUS Charity Club that organize charities and contribute to the overall well-being of the society.
