IUS in Action for More Sustainable Future
Intensive efforts on implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at IUS began in 2018. SDG delivery was gradually incorporated into various segments of university activities. By incorporating SDGs in its Strategic Plan 2022 – 2026, IUS declared its commitment to work towards more sustainable future. Students, academicians, and all IUS employees were encouraged to join discussions, raise awareness and take tangible actions on how the university can help local and global communities to deliver SDGs.
Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings assess universities’ activities in four important areas – research, teaching, outreach and helping community in SDG delivery.
Under the motto IUS in SDG Action, the efforts taken by IUS did not go unnoticed. As a THE Impact Ranking inaugural member, IUS is scored on this prestigious university ranking list for the fifth time in a row, as the only university from BiH, among 1591 participating universities from 112 countries/regions.
According to the THE metrics, the ranking organization selected the following 4 goals in which IUS achieved the best performance in 2022: SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong institutions, SDG 10 Reducing Inequalities and SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals.
“The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030” https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/
